Summer is starting to wind down. Backpacks are being dusted off, and pencils are getting sharpened. Parents are gritting their teeth and telling themselves that they can last a few more days before the sweet relief of teachers! Teachers...THANK YOU!!! How was your summer? Did you travel? Visit new places around Kansas City? Move into a new place? Get a puppy? We can't wait to hear about it all at your next dental appointment! Here is what the Jones' Dental Crew did this summer! Dr. Jones: Dr. Jones had a beautiful wedding at the end of June. The following weekend, she and her husband went on their honeymoon to Greece and Paris! They had a fabulous time, ate the most delicious food, and really enjoyed the beauty of Greece and history of Paris. After 10 days in paradise, they returned home to driving kids around to swim meets, golf practice, friends' houses, and the normal day-to-day summer fun! Dr. Jones' four children will be in 7th grade, 5th grade, 3rd grade and kindergarten this year! All four in school....that is a Fri-YAY for mom! Courtney: It's been house projects at Courtney's this summer! During our week off in July, Courtney and her husband painted their master bedroom and bathroom. While they did that, the kiddos spent time with their grandparents and went boating, fishing, and to a petting zoo (with a zebra!). Weekends have been spent at the pool, with friends, and enjoying music. Joan: I think that Joan had a well-rounded summer! Her week nights consisted of class, homework, and water polo practice. She camped with friends in Georgia, Hillsdale Lake, and Rolla, MO. Visited friends in New York, and spent time with family in Sedalia. A little school, a little fun, and a lot of gardening. The fruits of her labor benefited the rest of us last week when she brought in a bag full of basil! Our office smelled wonderful that day. Dr. Jones' used it that night on some homemade pizza, and both Ashleigh and Courtney made pesto! Ashleigh: While there was no official vacation for my family this summer, but we did spend a lot of time at the pool. We also surprised our boys one day with their first trip to Oceans of Fun! The wave pool was their favorite, with a close second being the Fury of the Nile. Dr. Jones and I also had a quick trip to Indiana with our family one weekend for a family reunion and memorial for our grandmother. Our entire family (minus a cousin or two) went to South Bend, Indiana to celebrate our Nana who passed away this past spring. She was a mother of six boys, and had 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren! The Dental Part of the Dental NewsletterSo cool you need to wear shades (New Procedures) When you come in for a dental visit, you will now be asked to wear a pair of protective sunglasses. You may wear your own, or use ours. 99% of patients want to know the reason, and it is simply to keep you safe! Safety is our top concern while you are visiting our office and we want to make sure that water, debris and our bright lights don't get in your eyes! Online Chat Feature Several months ago, we created a feature on our website that allows for people to chat with us during our office hours. When you go to www.alisonjonesdentistry.com, you will see in the "Chat with us" bubble in the lower right corner. This feature is only available during office hours, as I (Ashleigh) am the one on the other end! Of course, you can always call, email, and text us. SmileAdvantage This is the time of year that we like to remind patients that end of dental benefit plans, cafeteria plans, and open enrollment are only a couple months away. Over the course of the last three years, I've seen dental benefit plans change. Unfortunately, not for the better. One option that we introduced a couple years ago is SmileAdvanatage. This is a dental discount membership program. There are three plans available: Child, Adult, and Perio. The plans currently are $299, $349, and $649 and include two exams, two cleanings (or four perio maintenance visits for Perio Plan), 1 set of x-rays, 2 fluoride treatments (if wanted), 1 emergency visit, and 15% off dental treatment. If you are interested in SmileAdvantage or have questions, please call or email us. Online Bill Payments When you receive a Billing Statement you are able to submit a payment online! Although all patients can create their own Patient Portal, it is the Guarantor, or Head-of-Household, of the family that is able to submit online payments. If you have any problems, or need for us to change who is the Head-of-Household, please let us know. The email we have on file will be the email in which you use to create your account. Product Feature We are in the business of keeping your teeth and mouth healthy. We are not in the business to push and sell products. That being said, you will sometimes hear Dr. Jones and Courtney recommend products that they believe will benefit you. A new product that Dr. Jones highly recommends is StellaLife. StellaLife is an all-natural, antimicrobial product. It comes in a gel (to accelerate healing, relieve pain, ad reduce swelling after both surgical and non-surgical dental treatment); a rinse (to hydrate, promote healthy gums and freshen breath); and a mist (and easy-to-carry way to help dry mouth symptoms). We encourage you to research any product before use. Dr. Jones and Courtney are happy to answer questions at your next appointment! Thank You As always, thank you so much for being a part of our practice. We are a small office that values our relationships with our patients. Our practice is growing, but you can expect the same one-on-one, quality care that you have come to expect at our office. We love reading your Google, Yelp and Facebook reviews.
