Dr. Jones would like to thank all those that have sent in texts, emails, have called with well-wishes and have stopped by with flowers and cards! Having a supportive and understanding group of patients has made this time a little less stressful!
We wanted to share an update as to what is happening with Dr. Jones' wrist injury and let you know what to expect in the coming month or two.
Dr. Jones met with an orthopedic surgeon last week who said the broken bone was not displaced, and, fortunately, surgery was not recommended. Her follow-up is this Thursday (01/05/23) to make sure that the broken bone has not shifted. If it has not, Dr. Jones will continue to heal in a cast for the next month or so. Then there will be a transition time to build the strength and dexterity back after this initial healing period, which is why we are thinking that it will be closer to March before Dr. Jones is able to get back to a regular treatment schedule.
Because the dental show must go on, Dr. Jones is bringing in a wonderful dentist to step in for her a couple days a week. Ashley Stevenson D.D.S. has been practicing for the last 2.5 years in Texas after graduating from UMKC School of Dentistry. She and her husband (Dr. Henry Hoffman, orthodontist) moved back home to K.C. a few months ago, and she is in the process of opening her own dental practice soon. Dr. Ashley will start on Monday, January 9th and she will be seeing patients for all aspects of patient care. Dr. Jones will be taking a little time off for healing on the days that Dr. Ashley is here, but will be in the office doing exams a couple days a week. You will be in great hands with Dr. Ashley, and we are so grateful to have a kind, talented dentist to help us out for the next month or two!
If you are a patient that was scheduled to see Dr. Jones in January or February for dental treatment, your appointment has been temporarily removed from the schedule. We will contact those affected patients with a separate email/text to confirm with new appointment times available.
If you have an emergency or concern, please call us at 913-491-0077. Dr. Jones has great confidence in Dr. Ashley, and encourages you not to postpone any dental treatment. Dr. Jones will still actively oversee patient care and treatment behind the scenes, but it will be important to follow through on recommended dental treatment to decrease the risk for more problems.
Thank you so much for your understanding and patience during this time. We are truly grateful for all our valued patient relationships that make this feel like our little dental family!
If you have any questions or concerns, you can call us, email me, or text.
Kind regards,
Ashleigh Baughman
